Ahmed Abdo Family Support
United States
I never imagined I would find myself in this situation again. My family and I are living through the horrors of war for a second time — and with it, famine, destruction, and deep uncertainty have returned to our lives.
I lost my job after the place I worked was bombed. I had tried to create a new beginning by setting up a small project inside a tent, hoping to provide for my children through simple, honest work. But even that was taken away from me — the occupation forces destroyed my tent and everything in it. I lost not just my income, but the very little we had left to survive on.
Now, my children have no food or clean water. We have no shelter for a new start, no resources to rebuild even the simplest project. We are left with nothing, as war has taken everything — once again.
I am humbly asking for your support to help me rebuild a small project inside a tent. I don’t need much — just enough to buy basic supplies and create a space where I can work and provide for my children. This isn’t just about survival — it’s about giving my family a shred of hope in a time of unimaginable hardship.
Your donation will go directly to:
Setting up a small working tent
Buying basic materials to start over
Feeding and caring for my children
Even the smallest amount can help bring back a sense of dignity and hope to our lives. Thank you for reading, and thank you for standing with us in our time of need.
With gratitude, Ahmed
I want to thank you all. You are my second family. Your support gives us hope, and your donations help keep us alive. You have a kind heart, and I am grateful to you. I wanted to provide this update from my family, who you have helped so much with every donation you make.
As you know, I have three children: Mays, 12 years old; Yamen, 8; and Mariam, 4.
Two of my children are suffering from anaemia and have thalassaemia. Due to the poor nutrition we can provide during the famine here in Gaza, they are dizzy all day and have headaches that render them unable to move. They need healthy food, and as a father I hope to give this to them.
Because of the war and the destruction of hospitals, their papers and everything that belonged to them were lost. I don’t have any way to follow up with a doctor for them. My wife, who has thalassaemia like the children, was pregnant, but we lost the baby. Our baby had no arms or legs, and my wife was malnourished. Many unborn babies have had such difficulties because of the pollution and contamination of the bombs.
In addition to food, I need to get diapers for my youngest daughter. The price of these has become more than $100. I now use a plastic bag with damaged cloth, and she has developed skin lesions and needs cream for her raw skin. She cries all night and cannot sleep from the pain.
I started using a bar of hand soap to wash my utensils, wash my children and their clothes, and clean the place where we have been displaced. I grate the soap, add water, and use it for everything.
I wander the streets collecting plastic and damaged fabrics to use for cooking, because the price of wood has risen to $4-5 per kilo.
My children have outgrown their clothes. Thankfully some of my neighbours could give me clothes that have become too small for their own children. Even amidst the suffering we are all facing here, we are trying to help each other as much as we can.
I don’t know what to write to you after suffering so much. I don’t know what to say to you yet, but I am writing to you with tears in my eyes.
I had a beautiful life before the war, and now everything has turned upside down.
I am sorry for the long conversation, but I wanted to talk comfortably with you, as you have supported my family and me in the past. I love that you care about my family. Thank you for your help, and please, if you can make any donation to help us again, we would be very grateful. Your donations sustain us. Thank you.
